corporate prayer

The Lord teaches us much about prayer and encourages us to pray for one another. Here at St Aidan’s there are a number of ways that this prayer occurs. The below details some of those ways and I would encourage you to engage with this prayer and indeed to “… pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people,” (Eph. 6: 18).

Prayers of the People
Each week you will see prayers in our bulletin that link to the Service and the Anglican Cycle of Prayer. They can be used in the week on a personal basis. You will also see names listed for prayer. If you wish for an individual to be prayed for in this way their name needs to be given to Candace in our office, Margaret Friesen or Betty Ann Hossack (the names will be regularly rotated in the weekly Bulletin to ensure all are prayed for in our Services).

Corporate Prayer Group
A Group of individuals meet once a week to pray for more confidential matters, for the Church in general and for those on the prayer list. For information or to place a prayer request please speak with Betty Ann Hossack.

The Prayer Chain
Any urgent or time critical matter can be circulated to our Prayer Chain. This is sent out by email. Confidentiality is respected. For further information or prayer requests please speak to Margaret Friesen.

Corporation and Vestry
Every known member of the Church is prayed for. The leadership and Vestry are allocated a portion of Church members to pray for on a regular basis. The Leadership Group meet every week to pray.

Prayer Teams
At each of our main services there are prayer teams available and also the ministry of anointing. If you are interested in this ministry please speak with Eileen Dean.

Prophetic Ministry
Scriptures or words that are raised during our services are recorded and monitored to help discern the Lord’s direction. For further information please speak to Elizabeth Kroeker

Pastoral Care
A team of lay Visitors and I carry out Pastoral Visits each week to those needing prayer and support. If you are interested in this Ministry please speak to Margaret Friesen or myself

Small Groups
There are a good number of varied Small Groups at St Aidan’s; all have the potential for a powerful impact through prayer.

Personal Devotions
Each of us as individuals have the gift of Prayer which can deepen our relationship with the Lord and make a difference through in our own times of devotion.

Please be encouraged by this wonderful gift the Lord has given us and please dedicate yourself to prayer in the way the Lord asks.

Pastor Dave Labdon
