Verse of the Series
“For we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2: 9
Dear All,
Since 2013, we have followed a focus in our teaching upon God, the Church and our lives as His children; hence our vision of knowing our Real God, being a Real Church and living Real Lives. In 2017, we returned again to our focus on our Real God by looking at Jesus Christ as our Servant, our Saviour, Victorious, Living and our Brother King. We finished the year by considering our Worship of Him; because of who He is, our lives are impacted to become lives of worship. This teaching has had the aim of helping us to grow as a Church and as God’s Children; thus the overarching title of Real Growth.
As we move into 2018 (Happy New Year by the way!), our focus on God will move to a focus on the Church. During this year we will consider what it means to be a Gospel-Centred Church. Looking at the Lord Jesus, in the ways we have, has deepened our knowledge of the Good News He has brought us. In turn this should have an impact on our life as a Church: God’s Gospel-Centred Community.
The first series looking at this subject will begin a week before Lent and include the season of Lent. Lent is a time of preparation, the purpose of which is to set aside time for reflection that leads us to Easter and to Jesus Christ: His suffering and His sacrifice; His life, death, burial and resurrection. Therefore, after looking to Jesus Christ the Head of the Church for a full year, Lent is a good time to reflect upon how we are to be His body before we celebrate anew His Victory. As we submit to God to grow as a Church this year, these series will, I pray, be truly influential under God for our development to His Glory.

Please note: The speakers scheduled for the above dates may or may not add further Scriptures to the study. They may or may not provide study notes for further reflection. The previously produced Lenten Toolkit will again be available to assist with personal and/or group reflection.
May the Lord bless this series and use it to help us grow together in His Gospel, as His Community. May the Spirit motivate our commitment and faith to this end.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Dave Labdon
