Christmas at St. Aidan's
‘You will never know a person unless you walk a mile in their shoes.’ Variations on this quotation are many* but the meaning is clear; we do not know a person truly nor can we judge them unless we understand them and have shared in their experiences. At Christmas we give and receive gifts in keeping with tradition and in demonstrating our love for one another. The greatest gift that humankind has received, and the absolute reason for Christmas, is God’s gift of His Son incarnate; Jesus Christ. His incarnation means that He became one of us and lived amongst us as both Real God and Real Man. This means He has not only walked a mile in our shoes but a lifetime; He knows, understands and loves us. What though, does this really mean to us today in our lives and culture? At St. Aidan’s we’ve been working together to know our Real God and to understand what it is to be a Real Church and so to realize what this means in our Real Lives. If you want to know more come and celebrate Christmas with us or contact us; you would be very welcome and God may answer these questions for you.

"Real Lives" - A Sermon Series
By Pastor Dave
July 2014
In this last year as a Church we have focused on who our Real God is and we will aim to always keep our focus on Him; “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfector of our faith…,” (Hebrews 12: 2 and our Verse of the Year): Real God.
We then spent time on understanding God’s view of His Church and our aim will be to grow as His people: Real Church.
In the Fall, we will begin to see how our relationship with God as His Church should impact our lives; our whole lives. To help us with this there will be a Sermon Series on this subject with a focus on discipleship (October 12th /19th /26th and November 2nd/16th). This will be supported by three evening meetings looking at what it means to be in a house group and why we would want to be (October 21st/28th and November 4th). This focus will develop into an eight week course called Discipleship Explored, (November 11th/18th/25th, December 5th and in 2015 January 6th/13th/ 20th/27th). The course is ideal for those wishing to make the most of their Christian lives, to develop and grow: Real Lives.

Services in the Fall and Beyond
By Pastor Dave
July 2014
During the last year we have been working as a Church to grow in line with God’s will. Part of this growth looks at how we focus on God, have fellowship as a Church and how we open our doors to others. The following describes our Church Services and hopefully will help you decide what service may interest you and help you meet with God:
8:30 a.m. Sunday Holy Communion Service
The 8:30 a.m. Holy Communion service is a traditional service from the BCP (Book of Common Prayer). It includes a short talk, a Communion and hymns accompanied by our organist; it lasts for approximately 50 minutes and is followed by light refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.
10:30 a.m. Sunday Service
This main service will vary in its nature and is more contemporary. The service will include worship, liturgy, a sermon and a Holy Communion within the service at least twice a month (normally the first and third in the month but please look to the bulletin and calendar on this website for confirmation). There will normally be a “Real Lives’ slot in the service where an individual shares something of their life with God with the Church. Sunday Schools are available for Children. Refreshments are served at the conclusion of the service, which will last for approximately 75-90 minutes. The musical aspect of our services includes both contemporary and traditional worship.
Messy Church
This service is a simple form of Church aimed at young families but where all ages are welcome as part of a Real Church. It consists of craft work or activities, music, prayer, a talk and a meal. It takes place on a Saturday once a month between 4 & 6pm. Please look to the Bulletin and Calendar on this Website for the dates of this service
Café Church
This is an informal service which consists of worship, prayer and interactive discussion in a café style with refreshments. At present it will only take place three to four times a year on a Sunday morning at 10.30am. Please look to the Bulletin and Calendar on this Website for the dates of this service
Real Lives Service
Occasionally throughout the year (often on a fifth Sunday of a month) a Guest speaker will share how God has and is working in their Real Lives. The service will be slightly more informal and shorter than normal 10.30 services. Refreshments will follow. Please look to the Bulletin and Calendar on this Website for the dates of this service
