Read Matthew 26: 31-35 and 69-75

1. Why was Peter so confident that he would stand by Jesus? What motivates Peter’s denial?
2. How do you think Peter felt when he heard the crowing of the rooster? How would you feel If you were adamant that you would not do something and ended up doing it anyway? Has this happened in your relationship with Jesus?
3. What do the simultaneous trials of both Jesus and Peter tell us about God’s nature and human nature?
4. Why do you think Peter shared this scandalous story with others? Why do all four gospels share this embarrassing moment about one of the most prominent leaders of the church?
5. What can we learn from this passage about the cost of being Christ’s disciple?
